Blessed Be
Sorry for being gone so long, I have been working extra hard these last few days, cleaning the house, and staying late at work. Thanksgiving was a blast, and there was a lot of great food had by all. Doctor visits are on the slate for later this week, so I will see you all later.
Blessed Be

Hello again everyone. Thanksgiving is on it's way, and dreams of turkey and mashed potatoes fill my mind. There are several things that I am grateful this year, mostly my family, including all our cats, but one of the things I am most grateful for is our house. Not simply because it can hold all of us more comfortably then the trailer did, but because it is so warm. When we were at the trailer, we would have to insulate all under it with the rigid pink foam you could get from Menard's, just in hope that it would help keep the pipes from freezing. The walls were so thin, with practically no insulation, that Mom was always cold. And the intake pipe for the heater would freeze over every time the heater turned off, so the pilot light would always burn out and the heater wouldn't turn on again, unless we left it running all the time.
With the new house, even though we are paying twice as much in rent, our other bills have gone down so much, we are saving a lot of money. This summer we only had that AC on for about 6 weeks in total, and the heater runs for about 5-10 minutes at a time, then turns off for hours. And the house stays warm all the time, without having to worry about So this year, when I think of all the things I have to be thankful for, this house is near the top of the list, simply because I know none of us will have to suffer from the cold. Well, a big part of survival is being physically fit. and I am anything but that. So me, Dale, and his sister Crystal are trying to get into the habit of getting exercise each day. 10 situps, and 10 crunches to each side this morning, and a 2 mile walk last night after work, is a pretty good start. So
I have a list. I know most people make lists for various reasons, but this list is very special to me. I have been adding to it for almost 3 years now. It is a dream list of all the items I think a household would like to have in order to be self sufficient. I know most people would think I am silly, but it started as a list of all the items we had in our house, then evolved into something more. So I will continue to write the list, adding a little more each day. I'm
I must say, I don't have very many complaints about my day today. I got to sleep in an extra hour, had a yummy breakfast, surfed the interwebs, then played video games until work. Which work was not all that bad tonight, we stayed busy from 4 until about 9:30, which is pretty normal, and I stayed a little later then normal going through tickets for cars that weren't communicating properly, so I got in a little over time, which is awesome! I'm thinking about staying a little later each night when possible, if I'm feeling up to it, and getting in some over time to make a little extra money.
We have a little over $800 in the bank so far for our down payment we are trying to save up, hoping for $5,000 in the next year. I've done the calculations, and since January, I've collected over $500 in cans from people at work. Which is awesome! Some of that money went to a car payment and bills, but most of it is in the bank right now. Which means, that I have almost made an extra paycheck over the last 10 months by doing almost nothing. I think that I have spent maybe 10-12 hours in total, at maximum, collected and redeeming the cans at our local redemption center. And since ours pays back the $0.05 deposit rather then paying per pound, $500 for a day or two of work is pretty nice. The best part is I barely have had to ask people to give me the cans. I started out with just the people in my section of the building, then my sister's friends, and when word got out as to why I was saving cans, people have been saving their cans for me, along with their good wishes, all on their own. Makes me feel really good to know that the people I work with care. They see it as a neat way to give to others, and they always ask for updates on how much the last redemption put in the savings account. They like knowing that even though it may have only been a nickle or 2 a day, that they were a part of something that has helped someone else so much. Progress may be slow, but it is certainly steady! Blessed Be! Well, today is the day folks. The last day to get in your vote, which ever side you might be on. I'm not going to going to great detail as too whom you should vote for, each of us has our own minds. I'm just saying, go vote. Voting is the only way we can try to have our voices heard, and until TEOTWAWKI ha
Well, Dale is getting his Yule presents early, lol. Saturday morning we are going to go up to the Harbor Freight Tools store near South Ridge Mall and get him his table saw and his drill press, at least. We've saved up $300 for it, so he won't get the fanciest right away, but enough to get him started until we can get better. So he is excited, and I am exhausted. I've been fighting the same cold for 2 months, and just when I think I am getting better, boom, coughing all over again. I might actually break down and go to the doctor, since I have insurance.
We will also be going to one of my favorite stores of all time, Ancient Ways, which is going to be healing in it's own way. I haven't been there in a few months, and I might actually splurge a little of the money on myself for my birthday. Haven't decided what I want yet, but it will be good |
