Since I have been helping to take care of my nieces for a few months, and they are currently on summer vacation, Mom and I have decided to spend a couple hours each day to help keep the girls on track and do school work. So when we went to the store today we found several things to set up a "school room" in the dining room. We got a double sided white/chalk board set that came with chalk, a dry erase marker, magnetic letters, and a roll of paper. We also got manuscript paper for the girls to practice with, which was a pain in the ass to find. We want to avoid "activity books" since I have searched and found several sources for homeschooling over the years, so coming up with lesson plans should be fairly easy. I will be the one to use the white board and chalk board, so I used a silver paint pen to copy the solid and dotted lines from the manuscript paper onto the chalk board section so that the girls can follow along easily.
We will be spending time each week on spelling, reading and writing, math, and possibly some sciences. Hopefully we can make it fun enough to keep the girl's interest peaked, while giving them some structured learning. We already have lots of play outside, walking the dogs, going to the YMCA for swimming, and Dollar Tree has been a wonderful source for easy and fun activities that incorperate learning. We also has tons of supplies for drawing and crafts. Our hope is to help them be ready and more than ready for school this fall. Blessed Be! So this week has not been the relaxing vacation I was hoping for, though I have gotten quite a bit done. Feeling a bit frazzled since it's a nonstop list a mile long, but I'm steadily checking off items. I also found a new app to use with our tablet, for inventory and organization. Its called Stock and Inventory Simple . It's a free app, though there is a subscription option for other portions of the app, but the free version is the one I needed. Very fun, very cool, and actually very easy to use. Have a blessed day.
So I've updated the Links page with links to the Amazon pages for the books I've written about. I hoped that adding the links would be less intrusive then having big ads in the middle of the page. I tried to find the best copies at the best price. If you do buy through the link, I'll get a small comission, at no extra cost to you. I've gotten some outlines for articles done, and will be typing them up soon. Between caring for my nieces, work, and trying to get some repairs done on the car and house, I've been run crazy for the last couple of months. Hopefully I'll get a groove going so I don't feel so overwhelmed. But consindering I've posted more times this year then almost all the previous years together, I think I'm getting better :) Have a Blessed day!
