How often have we heard that water is the most important part of prepping? Does it sound old and tired, pounded relentlessly into our brains from each and every survival blog, website, or store? Good! Repetition means that people will remember, which in the case of water is important. It is no joking matter that without clean, safe water, YOU WILL DIE. A good way to make sure that you will have safe water is to store it yourself, wheither it be in jugs, barrels, or by making your own emergancy pouches. I LOVE my food saver bag system. Getting the bags on clearance, or with a coupon will help save you money. To make your own pouches:
-Pour 16-32 ounces of regular tap water from a liquids measuring cup into ice cube trays, and freeze until just frozen through, but not so long they start to evaporate. You can use an extra filter over your tap or pitcher if you like, to pull out extra trace pollutants.
-After the cubes are frozen, seal them into a bag you make, with a little extra room for the water to melt into.
Mark it with the date and contents, and you have emergancy water for your bug out bags for pennies on the dollar for what you would spend buying it online.
